Eating Disorder Management Plan Referral Process

What’s required in the 20 Session Review by a Psychiatrist or Paediatrician?
Prior to the Doctor approving sessions beyond 20 (with the Psychologist), the client will need to be reviewed by a Psychiatrist or Paediatrician who is required to:
confirm the clients diagnosis
evaluate the clients response to therapy so far, and
make recommendations as to whether further session are needed.
This specialist review can occur anytime prior to session 20, so it’s a good idea to plan ahead for this - especially given there can be a delay in booking an appointment with a Psychiatrist or Paediatrician.
Please provide a copy of the specialist review to the Psychologist, along with your session 20 review.
Eating Disorders Examination Questionnaire
Referring Doctors are required to use this assessment as part of the eligibility requirements for patients who don’t meet the automatic eligibility of a diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa. You can access the questionnaire and scoring instructions at this link:
